woohoo! had my second potluck last wednesday during a gathering over the deepavali hol with choirmates. Everything was superb! Potluck was so fun! Siewhui cooked tomyam soup and greenbean soup, Amanda cooked yeemian with lots of meat and veggies(: and some kinda korean meat patty(?), shawn brought pizza and made jellies, sien brought garlic bread, jontan made apple crumble pie (and was there something else? forgot :P) and tenghui brought chicken wings! (: I cooked fried rice on my own for the first time in my life! The dear choristers are all nice ppl, they told me it was fine (: haha, ok, shall go improvise on my fried rice when i have time so that it'll become even better in time!
but anws, i was quite angry at myself... really wanted to prepare smth for Siewhui sincerely cos she really helped me a lot last year with all the tuitions and extra tests that she gave me although she has lots of assignments and exams to rush through. So, i decided to bake a cake for her bday. The cake turned out okay... BUT, i forgot to ask jontan to refrigerate it when we got to his house :'( i placed it on the kitchen counter and the cake got infested with ants during dinner... I feel so stupid, i mean how can anyone forget to refrigerate their cake! :'(
Really prepared it sincerely, i hope Siewhui will be able to feel it. Really felt like slapping myself on the spot when i saw the ants crawling out of the cake. I spent the previous night till 2 a.m. in the morn to prepare the choc cake and the next morning doing the white choc ganache... well, it wouldn't have taken the whole morning, but i failed on my first attempt and had to go back to marsiling to get the white choc conventure and try to ganache for the second time... Really felt like just drowning all the ants... :(
I really feel very very very sorry to jontan and his family too... Caused so much ants to climb onto their kitchen counter... i hope that the cake didn't attract ants that were not in the house in the first place. My dad would have had me killed if this scene was re-enacted in my own kitchen... Thanks jontan's parents for your kind understanding and tolerance!
Ohoh, and anyway, it was a rather memorable journey to and from jontan's house! lol... once in a lifetime experience i guess! Well, i'm so thrilled at the thought that more and more friends of our age are getting their license and starting to drive people around. doubt i'll get a license anytime soon, will prolly have to wait till i start work, as in first job. (:
okay, gotta get going, mind over body, start mugging again!
